Solano Symphony Orchestra presents
World’s Greatest Classics

For its annual concert dedicated to the performance of
masterpieces of classical music, Maestro Semyon Lohss
and the Solano Symphony Orchestra present three stellar
compositions brimming with grandeur, elegance, and passion.
Rossini’s overture to his opera seria, Semiramide, sets the
mood for the program with its grand, energetic music. While
the opera recounts the tragedy of a Babylonian Queen, the
overture is alive with regal dignity and plenty of the composer’s
typically rhythmic fire and fury.

A high point of the concert is the performance of Weber’s
Clarinet Concerto No. 1 by Staff Sergeant Brian Wilmer, clarinetist with the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West, Travis AFB. The
concerto, a sublimely Romantic vehicle showcasing the rich tone of the clarinet, masterfully blends moods of sadness, valor, joy, and finally,
exuberance. The concert is capped with the agitated passion of Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, considered by many to be his symphonic
masterpiece. The composition is one of the few works in which Dvořák gives free range to themes of contemplative tragedy and searching
pathos, perfectly balanced alongside his well-known graciousness and rhythmic Slavic energy.

Come, join the Solano Symphony Orchestra and hear and experience why audiences have come to love this superb music that refreshes,
amuses, and inspires.

The Back Pages

Tribute to Rock & Roll 60s & 70s

Sunday March 31, 2019  4pm Matinee

The Back PagesSM are the San Francisco Bay Area’s Tribute to 60’s Rock and Roll, authentically recreating the positive sound, image and
spirit of the 60’s. Audiences will recognize the songs and will be “feelin’ groovy,” making any special event or night club performance a
memorable experience.

Since forming in 1988, The Back PagesSM have continued to play the music that influenced their youth with the same intensity, feeling and
authenticity that drove kids wild in the 60’s. It’s the real thing!
All band members grew up listening to Top 40 and FM underground radio. Although they grew up in different communities, their stories are
the same. As teenagers they acquired instruments and started garage bands, playing the rock and roll hits of the day.

Today, you can still hear The Back PagesSM playing the hits of 60’s rock and roll: British Invasion, American Pop, Psychedelia, Surf and Folk
Rock.
