The Vacaville Museum: A Center for Solano County History & Culture, will be presenting the Solano Arts & Lecture
Series free event, “From Pinhole to Digital”: A Family Fun-Day Workshop.  It will held on Saturday August 17, 2019 at the
Museum from 10:00-11:30 am.  The workshop is sponsored by Jill Blechschmidt: McGuire Capital Group.

The Family-Fun-Day is open to all children ages 8-17 with their adult counterparts.  It will be taught by well-known
photographer and instructor, Grant Holliman.  Participants will begin in the Museum Gallery, where they will learn about
early photography and have hands-on experiences with pinhole cameras along with other 19th and 20th century
cameras.  The workshop will then focus on easy-to-learn & easy-to-do design and composition to helpcreate exciting,
engaging photographs.

After learning the basics in the Gallery, it will be time to put that knowledge to use.  Workshop participants will have the
opportunity to come into the wonderful world of 21st century photography—using digital cameras!  Buck Ave. and its
beautiful gardens and homes will be the focus of image-making as the class members take digital photographs during a
“camera shoot” down the historic avenue.  Mr. Holliman and the Museum staff will lend expertise and guide the walk.

To conclude the workshop, all participants will have time to proudly show off their favorite images taken during the
morning session while hearing comments given by the workshop leader, Mr. Holliman.

The Family Fun-Day Photography Workshop is part of the on-going Solano Arts & Lecture Series that highlights the
Museum’s current exhibition, Through the Lens: Our Fruitful Heritage, an elegant show detailing the “Early Fruit
District” of Solano County.  Space for the workshop is extremely limited. Reservations for this free event are strongly
suggested and can be made by calling the Museum:

Vacaville Museum's 35th Anniversary
Gala Dinner and Auction

Friday, September 6, 2019
In the Buck Mansion Gardens

The Vacaville Museum, dedicated in 1984, turns 35 this year.  In celebration of that milestone, the Museum Guild,
in concert with the Board of Trustees, is planning a gala.  On September 6th in the Buck Mansion gardens, Lindsey
(Gilpin) Chelini, owner of the Backdoor Bistro, will serve a catered dinner to 120 guests in her own inimitable style, using
the freshest and most local

ingredients available.  We urge you to be one of those guests.
Reservations are now being taken.  The cost to attend is $150 per person and includes a before-dinner glass to sip along
with appetizers; a four-course, sit-down dinner with wine; and chances to win a pyramid of wine, purchase historical
Museum memorabilia and bid on some one-of-a-kind auction items.

If you would like to enjoy elevated status, you may choose to sponsor a table.  For $1,750 you will host a table of eight
diners, have preferential seating, receive additional wine at table, be publicly acknowledged and graciously thanked, and
receive special commemorative gifts for yourself and your guests.  For $3,500 you will receive twice that and will be
honored as an emerald sponsor on this emerald anniversary.

We encourage those that would like to attend to get their reservations in early, as there is limited seating and four of the
fifteen tables are already sold.  You may make your reservation by phone, mail or in person.  Payment will be accepted in
cash, by check or at the Museum by credit card.
For more information call the Museum at 707-447-4513, email us at or come into the Museum at 213
Buck Avenue.  The Museum is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.
