SOLANO COLLECTS!
What’s Behind the Museum’s Curtain?

Behind the mysterious curtain at the Museum, a new exhibit is being created.  The show, Solano Collects!, is set to open
at the Vacaville Museum: A Center for Solano County History and Culture on October 5, 2019.  Featuring an
unprecedented variety of unique collections from collectors from throughout Solano County, the exhibit runs through
February 2, 2020.

This ground-breaking, regional exhibit began with a “call for collections” by the Museum this past spring.  An
independent jury then selected the artifacts, artworks and curiosities which form the exciting show.

With 30 wide-ranging collections, viewers will be treated to a visual feast.  The exhibit showcases everything from fine
paintings to dye-cast 1940’s pencil sharpeners—from Native American miniature baskets, to electrified Lego and
porcelain Dickens cities.  The goal of the show is to spotlight all of Solano County and its representative towns and
cities,  while  highlighting the fact that the Vacaville Museum is the only county museum in Solano County.

With something for everyone,  reaching out to all ages, the trailblazing show reflects each of the collectors’ interests
and passions  In the end, the collections reveal the stories about the individual collectors, which threads though the
fabric of our community to tell the story of all of us.

Solano Collects! opens to the public on Saturday October 5, 2019.  Museum Gallery hours for viewing the show are
Wednesday--Sunday 1:00 pm—4:30 pm.   Private, docent-led tours by organizations and schools are welcome.  For
information regarding Solano Collects!, individual tours, or the Museum in general, call  707-447-4513.
